What is Xoopii?

This is Xoopii. Xoopii is RUPA (aka: Reusable Urban Pop Art). According to wikipedia rupa is a Buddhist term that means the outward appearance or phenomenon of colour. We like that wiki! Xoopii is the nation’s leading source of guilt free everyday products that do their part to make going green a joy and not a chore. Do you have Xoopii yet? Xoopii already has you – it’s time to even the scales. We call it Green 2.0 – the next iteration of eco-responsibility.  It simplifies eco-friendliness by integrating into your busy lifestyle without compromising style. And you don’t need to make activism a full-time job to know you’re making a difference. You can be Green 2.0 without looking like you’re headed to BurningMan. Click here to read the full story.

What does Xoopii mean? Or Where did the Xoopii name come from?

We're sure it would be better to say it’s the ancient Bantu word for “divine enlightenment and really good taste in flatware.” But it’s not. We just like making up our own words. And we have an unusual facination for the letters “x”, “o” and “i.” Throw in a “p” for flavor, and voila: Xoopii was born. Yup, that’s the whole, boring story.

How do you pronounce Xoopii?

Good question since we’d like to know that, too. In the meantime, we’ve become fond of (zoo-pea).

How can I clean my bag?

Spilled a little of that hand-made marinara you picked up down at the farmer’s market? Well, don’t feel bad. Xoopii likes getting a bit dirty. And Xoopii likes organic micro-produced Italian. None of this, however, changes the fact that you can’t see your RUPA any more, under all those mashed-up tomatoes. Fixing this is easy. For wee cases of ickiness, spot clean with cold water and a sponge. For all out dirt warfare, hand-wash with cold water. Hang dry. And be more careful: that handmade marinara wasn’t cheap! What is reusable art?

We’ve pioneered a new product category known as Reusable Urban Pop Art (RUPA). Have you ever tried using one of Andy Warhol’s “Soup Cans” to actually carry soup around? After the first trip, that painting’s usefulness for transport is finished, right? Or, at least, that’s what we’ve come to learn. This is because Warhol never really understood about reusable art. Congratulations: this means that you, as a purchaser of Xoopii products, are smarter than Andy Warhol. (In his defense, though, he’s better than you at seeming all detached and world-weary.) Anyhow, reusable art captures the idea that reusable objects don’t have to be ugly, and don’t have to be covered in ads for local stores. Your reusable bag can be a limited-edition object of art. And your limited-edition object of art can help you carry stuff. That’s way better than some Andy Warhol painting, just sitting there on the wall, looking all smug. Blasted Warhol painting never pulls its weight.

What is 1% for the Planet?/What does Xoopii do to reduce their environmental impact?

Xoopii is a proud member of 1% for the Planet, which is a growing global movement of companies who donate 1% of their sales to a network of environmental organizations worldwide. We’re hoping our 1% goes to the baby seals. Those cute little guys never have any extra money to buy anything nice. We’re committed to the idea that baby seals deserve Prada. Since we’re only sending off 1%, though, that means you guys are gong to have to buy a lot of reusable art from us: baby seal Prada doesn’t come cheap.

What is _____ made of?

Yorkii bags and Wristbands: Like the vast herds of Nauga Beasts and Nylonodons that once roamed the open fields of the 1970’s, these Xoopii products are made of 100% pure polyester. Accept no substitutes that might contain trace quantities of rayon or acrylic: insist upon pure, unadulterated polyester for your reusable shopping bag and wrist-protection needs. We know: you think we should use organic hemp; or some new fabric invented by NASA for the Space Shuttle; or an imaginary material woven from spider silk and the dreams of innocent children. Polyester isn’t cool: it’s all low-brow and 1974-ish. But polyester is actually a pretty impressive fabric. It’s easily washable, and easily recyclable. It’s strong, and it’s resistant to stretching and shrinking. If you get it wet, it dries fast. If you get it all bunched up, it emerges unwrinkled. If you leave it full of damp stuff for a week, it resists mildew. It speaks French like a native, and knows exactly what to do when the sommelier hands you the cork. It’s better at chess than David Beckham, and better at soccer than Gary Kasparov. Resistant to most chemicals, polyester can be used as a shelter against sandstorms – though it won’t offer any real protection or anything. RPET Totes: 10% Polyester (for the low-brow chic no other fabric can offer), and 90% Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (so you can impress your friends with your encyclopedic knowledge of organic chemistry). What does that mean? It means that instead of throwing a bunch of old plastic water bottles into the landfill (or the ocean, or your front yard), we made them into fabric, and used them to create cool reusable art bags. Well, we didn’t do it: we got some guys with impressive degrees in chemical engineering to do it. But we did choose the colors.

Where can I buy Xoopii products?

Here, here or here….Oh, you were probably looking for a more specific answer. Currently, we’re only available online at xoopii.com. If you’re interested in carrying our products, please contact us at sales@xoopii.com.

Is gift wrap available?

Call us friends of the earth (or just plain lazy), but we think our products are best gifted in their natural state: all naked and exposed. But, you know us, we think that about almost everything. We think that about you. Rather than wrapping your Xoopii gifts, what if you twisted, flipped, folded, canoodled, or slapped them into something amazing? (We do that to the founder all the time.) Yorkii and RPET bags make wonderful reusable gift bags, while our wristbands and stickers can finish off a gift with that special touch. Since we perversely refuse to wrap our stuff, use our stuff to wrap other stuff, instead!

How durable is the Yorkii, RPET, etc?

Stronger than clouds; gentle like oxen. (Translation: they’re built to carry at least 20lbs. The bag is; not necessarily you. You should only carry what you can handle without a chiropractor). A Xoopii bag can withstand the daily rigors of all your crime fighting needs. As long as your crime fighting needs don’t involve carrying things heavier than 20 pounds.

Where does Xoopii ship?

We currently ship anywhere in the U.S.A. except for the township of Pebble Creek, Nebraska. We've got it in for those guys. No Xoopii for them. (Clarification: to our knowledge, there is no actual place called "Pebble Creek, Nebraska.") If you live in the Gobi Desert, or the Transvaal, you might want to consider a more local provider: it takes a heck of a lot of carbon to ship green products halfway around the planet, which kinda undermines the whole "green" thing. If you live in the Plains of San Augustin, then you’re good – but only because those are actually in the United States.

What’s Xoopii's return/exchange policy?

Unrequited love? Xoopii loves you, but we understand sometimes it’s not meant to be. Just contact us within 30 days of receiving your product(s), and we’ll gladly refund returns (minus shipping costs). We’ll even forgive you – though we’ll be sad, and the hurt will linger. (No, really, we’re OK; don’t worry about us. We’re going to be fine. It’ll just take time, and ice cream, and grain alcohol.) Click here for details of the return process. Maybe you just want us to change a little? New hair? Help out with the dishes more often? We can do that; we’re not proud. Click here for details about returns/exchanges.

What is Xoopii’s warranty policy?

We all fail from time to time or we never learn, right? Xoopii products have a 30 day limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship. Contact us (hot link to email), and we’ll exchange/repair the product ASAP. We’ll also find out who’s responsible, and smack ‘em around a little.

How do I fold my Yorkii?

  1. Empty Yorkii. Your groceries are in the way. They’re going to have to go.
  2. Grab Yorkii by the bottom corners. Yorkii likes the attention. Have you been working out?
  3. ShakeYorkii. The pouch will fall out. This is a feature, not a bug.
  4. Lie Yorkii upon a flat surface. Once Yorkii is relaxed, the pouch should open quite naturally.
  5. Yorkii’s handles will never fit if you leave them up there. What were you thinking? Fold them down, like a reasonable person would.
  6. Yorkii demands a tri-folding. Acquiesce.
  7. Fold Yorkii into square segments. You should start from the bottom, because starting from the top doesn’t work. Starting from the top is crazy talk. As you fold, try to imagine you’re doing something more interesting than folding your Yorkii.
  8. Slide Yorkii gently into its own pouch. Just slide it in there. And try not to make it seem so dirty: Yorkii heard you. Let’s keep this professional, people.
  9. Yorkii needs closure. You wouldn’t leave the fridge door open, would you? Close your Yorkii. It’s only polite.
  10. Then give it a good slap. Yorkii’s into that.
  11. There, now Yorkii is returned to its natural state. Enjoy its majesty: the noble purse-bag of the mean streets, doing its thing. Following its own spirit. Holding shit.

Where are Xoopii’s products made?

Like all physical objects, Xoopii bags and wristbands are made in China. Xoopii loves Chinese food, so we just went with that. Xoopii thinks that being made in China makes Xoopii products just a little more impressive, because of the Terra Cotta Army, and the Great Wall, and the poetry of Li Po. Your Xoopii bags can speak Chinese, but only in sound ranges inaudible to the human ear. Ask your dog – she’ll be happy to confirm this.

Can Xoopii recycle my old bag?

Why recycle when you can reuse your old bag as funky wall art, sew it up into a throw pillow, or create an indestructible piñata. We love a good challenge, don’t you? Get crafty and send us your great ideas at info@xoopii.com or here.
